Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, popularly known as Palani Temple. It is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is located atop the Palani Hills in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. If you’re planning a visit, knowing the Palani Temple timings for darshan, pooja, aarti, and sevas will ensure a fulfilling pilgrimage. Here’s your complete guide.

Palani Temple Darshan Timings:

  • Regular Days:
    • Morning: 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM
    • Evening: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Festival Days (Thaipusam, Panguni Uthiram, Kanda Shashti, etc.)
    • Open: 4:00 AM to 10:30 PM
  • Closed: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for cleaning.

Special Darshan (₹100) and VIP Darshan (₹1000) tickets for quicker access. Free darshan is offered via a separate queue.

Pooja Timings:

  • Viswaroopa Pooja: 5:40 AM (first view, ₹100)
  • Ushakala Pooja: 6:30 AM (morning ritual, ₹50)
  • Kala Sandhi Pooja: 8:00 AM (₹50)
  • Uchikalam Pooja: 12:00 PM (noon, ₹50)
  • Sayaratchai Pooja (Raja Alankaram): 5:30 PM (evening, ₹50)
  • Rakkalam Pooja: 8:00 PM (night, ₹50)

Abhishekam (milk, sandalwood, etc.) occurs six times daily (6:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 7:30 PM, ₹25-₹1000).

Aarti Timings:

  • Morning Deeparadhana: 6:00 AM (post-Viswaroopa)
  • Noon Aarti: 12:30 PM (with Uchikalam)
  • Evening Aarti (Raja Alankaram): 5:30 PM
  • Night Aarti: 8:00 PM (before closing)

The Raja Alankaram Aarti at 5:30 PM, with Lord Murugan adorned in royal attire, is a highlight, arrive by 5:00 PM.

Seva Timings and Offerings:

  • Panchamritam Abhishekam: 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM (₹25-₹500, sweet offering).
  • Thonsure Ceremony: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (head-shaving, free, counters near foothills).
  • Golden Chariot Procession: 7:00 PM (₹2000, evening ritual).
  • Kavadi Seva: 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM (devotional dance, ₹100).
  • Annadanam: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM (donations ₹1000+, feeds 1000+ daily).

How to Reach Palani Temple:

  • By Road: 100 km from Coimbatore (2 hours via NH83).
  • By Train: Palani Station (2 km).
  • By Air: Coimbatore Airport (100 km).
  • Hill Access: 693 steps, rope car (7:00 AM-9:00 PM, ₹15-₹50), or winch train (5:00 AM-9:00 PM, ₹10-₹20).

Travel Tips:

  • Dress Code: Men: Dhoti. Women: Saree/churidar. No casuals.
  • Best Time: October-March for pleasant weather. Avoid Thaipusam for fewer crowds.
  • Note: Mobiles banned; use cloakroom (₹5).
